Alzheimer’s Diagnosis in older Adults with Chronic Conditions (ADACC) Network
This identity design for Wake Forest Health, now Atrium Health, is one of many that helps further research of important health concerns performed in their organization.
International Network
The overall goal of the Alzheimer’s Diagnosis in older Adults with Chronic Conditions (ADACC) Network by Atrium Health is to establish a national network of experts who will develop evidence-backed strategies for the use, interpretation, and implementation of biomarker tests for the diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease in older patients with multiple chronic conditions.
The network uses data from existing studies and real-world populations to make recommendations across this topic for researchers, for doctors on the front line, and for patients.
IDENTITY DEVELOPMENT
Showing what Alzheimer’s disease may look like in a graphic, made me think of confusion since that’s what the disease is most known for creating.
However, the study first depends on the indication of chronic conditions that could be present in the participants, such as heart disease, diabetes, kidney disease, and COPD. These conditions are found in the blood, known as biomarkers. One of the concepts developed focused on that idea. Another, considered the idea of one’s genetic makeup, which could also be an indicator of a chronic disease being present.
Back to the confusion Alzheimer’s disease can cause… a few more concepts showed this by way of a puzzle and the network/study being the piece connecting doctors to patients.
And then, a brain. I was able to work the script font into what may look like a brain, producing jumbled thoughts. Although the disease may not really look like jumbled thoughts in the brain, that’s where I went.

SMALL TWEAKS
From round one, they requested that the “adacc” be more emphasized in the brain design. And they still liked one of the other designs and requested to see color applied to both.
So in this round, we explored color options as well as different compositions and small changes to the prior round designs.

FINAL FINESSE
Ready for any application, Atrium Health had a new research study identity to help detect Alzheimer’s disease in older patients with multiple chronic conditions.
